Sports Physicals

Priority Urgent Care

Since 2018, Priority Urgent Care has proudly provided free sports physicals to the youth of Kern County as a gesture of community service and goodwill. This initiative has allowed many young athletes to participate in sports safely and confidently, reinforcing our commitment to the health and well-being of our community. We have proudly offered these physicals entirely out of Priority Urgent Care's budget, without any reimbursement from schools, private organizations, or insurance companies. To date, we have conducted over 39,000 physicals.

However, as our organization has grown and the demands on our resources have increased, it has become clear that we need to adapt our approach to ensure we can continue to support our community effectively. After careful consideration, we have decided to transition our sports physicals program to focus on partnerships with local schools.

Starting August 1st, 2024, Priority Urgent Care will offer sports physicals exclusively to schools that partner with us. These partnerships will involve sponsoring individual teams that complete an application process.

This decision was not made lightly. We deeply value the trust and support the Kern County community has shown us over the years. By focusing on partnerships, we aim to create a sustainable model that benefits both the students and the broader community. Together, we can ensure that our young athletes receive the care they need while also raising awareness about the healthcare services available to them and their families.

For those who do not choose to partner with us, we will still offer affordable sports physicals. Additionally, we would like to remind the community that sports physicals are a primary care service covered by most insurance plans and can be conducted by your pediatricians.

We believe this new approach will enable us to continue making a positive impact while fostering deeper connections with the schools and families we serve.
